Private Buckam Singh was one of the first Sikh Canadian WW1 Soldiers. 
He spent his last days in Kitchener and died from tuberculosis at age 25 in 1919.
He is buried in Kitchener's Mount Hope Cemetary.
His grave here is the only known WWI Sikh Canadian Soldier’s military grave in Canada
He is honoured on every Sikh Remembrance Day along will all Sikh soldiers who gave us our freedom.

2025 Canada Post Unveils A Commemorative Stamp Honouring Sikh Soldiers Since WW1

In 2025 at The Sikh Remembrance Day Ceremony in Kitchener, Canada Post unveiled its new Remembrance Day stamp. It paid  tribute to the contributions of Sikh soldiers in the Canadian military since the First World War.

​Attendees received a complimentary commemorative first day cover featuring the stamp, along with an exclusive souvenir medallion
